Human Kind Center

Human Kind reached out to SPOTLAB to consult on a venue concept in Sedona, AZ. The room, which had been used as an underground music venue in the past, was torn down to the studs for a full remodel.

After working with the venue owner to understand the vision, we got to work creating a unique production design, developing schematics, and sourcing the equipment.

Our vision for the room centered around a unique pixel mapped LED sculpture on the ceiling reminiscent of a person dancing. With the low ceilings this piece offered a multitude of purposes: ambient room lighting for meditations and sound healings with the ability to transform with fast paced, eye catching FX driven from Resolume.

On stage we installed 4 lighting positions, along with 2 in the house, which offered a variety of options when it came time to design the lighting. We filled the upstage bar with moving head spots and RGB LED bars to achieve a myriad of atmospheric looks and backlight for the talent. We placed LED pars on the downstage and house truss positions which can be easily focused for the wide variety of shows held in the venue.

For audio we paired Renkus Heinz tops, which were ceiling mounted, with JBL SRX Dual 18" subwoofers driven by Crown amps and a DBX Driverack PA2 DSP. We tuned the audio to the room and when we were finished you could feel the bass in your chest wherever you stand while the crispy tops came through beautifully over the top.

We also sourced a neon sign of the client's logo and consulted on the placement of venue lighting to achieve the warm vibe they were seeking.
